The phrasal verbs are formed by a combination of verbs and prepositions or adverbs. They are typical in the Informal English Language.
They are usually classified as slangs because they often show the speaker´s emotion.
The phrasal verbs are divided into transitive or separable or inseparable or intransitive. The difference between separable and inseparable is that when it is possible to place an object between the verb and the preposition or adverb it is called separable, otherwise, inseparable.
Avoid translating the phrasal verbs to Portuguese because they are independent words, try to understand their idea which is formed by a combination of words that are different from the original meaning. If a preposition or an adverb is added to a verb, a new word is formed.
It is important to know about 30 phrasal verbs at the beginning level, about 60 ones at the intermediate level, and over 100 ones at the advanced level!
